Hey everybody and welcome to the #DigitalMarketingScript. Today and today we’re going to talk about switching it up.

Social media is a great place to sell your business and products, but it shouldn’t be your main focus. Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, are best used whenever you’re connecting with your audience. Whenever you’re just sell, sell, sell, you’re not exactly connecting with them.  As the wise Carl Britton Jr once said: You want to connect with your audience through emotion, not promotion. Here are some ways to help you switch up your social media posts.

First: create a post schedule. On Mondays, people are not looking forward to working. They’re going to probably spend a few extra minutes on their Facebook feed. This is your chance to grab their attention and maybe motivate them to work hard that day. Tuesday you can do a community post. Find something fun that’s going on in your community and post about it. Get people excited about another business and maybe that business will share your page. Now Wednesday is your day to sell! Post about your business, what are you doing, what sales are you having. Wednesday is a great day to post, because people are in the middle of the week,  and they might be feeling a little more motivated and they’re ready to hear about what you have to offer. Thursday you can choose a relevant article. If you industry is related to health, maybe there’s a health article about summer safety tips that you want to share. For Friday, post something fun!  Get people excited about the weekend. Lighten up the mood and get people ready to leave work that day. Now Saturday is a great time to sell! People are off of work and ready to run errands, so make it your business they come to!

Another unique way to switch up your social media is a social media account takeover. Go on Instagram and find a business that is sort-of related to yours but that you find interesting and good at posting on social media. Send them a direct message and ask them if they would be interested in taking over your Instagram, and if they would be okay with you taking over their Instagram. This is a great way to give your audience a behind the scenes look at a different business and give their audience a behind the scenes look at your business!

So to spice up your social media account and to engage your audience with emotion and not promotion, make a social media schedule and reach out to another business for a social media takeover.
