Hey everybody and welcome to #DigitalMarketingScript, I’m Carl Britton Jr and today we’re going to talk about getting social before and during conferences and trade shows.

You need to be getting social, I.E. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, before, during and after a conference or a trade show. Here a re a few tips to get it going!

Number one: every show should have an official hashtag. If not, then you need to make one up and get it going. Utilize that hashtag before, during and after.

number two: are you exhibiting, sponsoring a speaker, sponsoring an event, are you doing something cool? Toot your own horn! Let everyone know, use that official hashtag and connect that way. “Hey, I’m the speaker/sponsor. Make sure you’re at the welcome dinner!”

Number three: connect with vendors and people that you know are going to be at the conference, at least a week in advance. “Hey so and so, I can’t wait to see you at the conference. I’m really looking forward to seeing you again. When was the last time we saw each other? Make sure we catch up at the conference!” Connect with people, it’s social media!

Number: take a ton of pictures and a ton of videos. You need to document as much as possible. Take selfies with the vendors, @ tag them. take selfies with cool people, big movers and shakers in the industry and @ tag them, hashtag the event. Make sure that anyone that sees the hashtag, sees you in it nonstop.

Number five and the most important: is follow-up after the conference. Most of the time we go home, we unpack and forget we even went there. Make sure that you are utilizing the connections that you made and follow up with them on LinkedIn, on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. Get busy and get social!

Thank you so much for joining me today on the #DigitalMarketingScript, I’m Carl Britton Jr and I want to know a tip or trick that has worked for you at a conference!
