Hey everybody, I’m Carl Britton Jr and I’m here at Charlie’s Drug in Stillwater Oklahoma with Kaci and Debbi. They run this joint and they are rockin’ and rollin’! Today we’re going to talk about Facebook advertising with them.
CARL
So I have a few questions for you. One, what are a few of the services that you have been successful at when using Facebook advertising?
KACI
We did a couple of ads and they worked great. We had people in the store that we have never seen before come in and get what they need. It’s not a huge markup, but they’re going to come back because we have such great service here, and hopefully they’ll fill some prescriptions too.
DEBBI
We also have an ad that runs for our Mason vitamins, buy one, get one free. Which is a big deal, because then the vitamins that you can’t afford, you can afford better and we’ve had many different people come in and buy that don’t normally come here to buy their vitamins. So, its helped in that area too. I have a question for you Carl! What do you think is the best way to bring all of your marketing together?
CARL
I have reviewed hundreds of independent pharmacies’ marketing plans and you guys are very similar in the fact that you do run ads in your local paper, and you do support your local community, and you do donate to the football team, and to the t-ball teams and you do these great things. I truly, truly believe that as an independent you have to support the community, but you also have to make sure that you can see the return on investment, just like the Facebook advertising. I really believe in that plan. You have to have that community involvement, because you are a community store, but you have to show the return on investment.
CARL
We have been utilizing Facebook advertising in pharmacy for the additional health services, just because reimbursements are so terrible. Do you guys feel like it has brought more patients in for these additional health services?
DEBBI
Absolutely! People that we’ve not normally had in, have been in and hopefully they’ll come back and fill prescriptions. And like you said Carl, you’ve got to find other ways besides prescriptions, because we’re just not going to make it there alone.
CARL
As an independent, it is so important that you’re offering these additional health services, but how does your community know about it? Facebook advertising is dollar for dollar, the most effective advertising that you’re going to be able to do, and it allows you to hone in that target market. This is a proven fact, that they have had success with Facebook advertising. If you’re making excuses on why you’re not doing it, you need to stop and need to get started!
