Today we’re going to talk about how often you should participate on social media! This question comes from a pharmacy compounding group on Facebook and we really appreciate you asking the question.

First things first, every platform and every audience is different. How you post on your social media, depends on your audience. You want to make sure you have something interesting to say, it’s very important. Don’t post crap to just post crap. Nobody wants their feed to comprise of just one person. When you do post, make it valuable!

The next thing I’ll say before we jump in to the actual tips, is going to be: do not interrupt your audiences experience on that social media platform. Don’t post 10,000 instagram images of you having allergy medication on sale. There’s no sense in that. Flooding the market will only annoy your prospective audience.

For posting on Facebook, we prefer 1 to 3 times a day. Now that can also depend on your audience. You may not want to post 3 times every single day, because your audience could get annoyed. Make sure that you’re very active on it, but do not overdo it on Facebook.

For LinkedIn, we suggest 1 to 2 times daily, again this could be too much for your network. You may go 1 to 2 times every other day. You want to be the person participating very aggressively, but in a nice, calm, valuable manner. LinkedIn is the professional setting and should be treated as such. As funny as that cat video was, no one wants to see it on LinkedIn.

Now Twitter is a completely different beast. You can probably get away with posting 25 times a day on Twitter, as long as they’re not right after one another. However, we really do suggest 3 to 10 times a day. Make sure that it is providing good information. Good news stories, high quality value, and educating, entertaining and encouraging your audience. This is the rapid fire social media platform, so don’t worry about getting crazy with the tweeting.

The last platform we’re going to talk about today is Instagram. This is going to be the visual communication. You want to post 1 to 4 times a day, spread it out throughout the day. Don’t rapid-fire it out like Twitter. You want to also make sure that you’re encouraging. That you’re putting out really nice quotes and sayings, bible verses, things like that. Make things very beautiful, use the filters. The most important thing is that you’re speaking to your audience, that you’re giving your audience what they’re asking for. You’re not interrupting their experience. You’re enhancing it and you’re providing high quality value through the three E’s: entertaining, educating and encouraging.
