Hey everybody and welcome to #DigitalMarketingScript, I’m Carl Britton Jr and today we’re going to talk about the why you need to know the why of your why.

If you’re reading this right now, there’s a chance that you are an entrepreneur. Why did you start your business? Was it to make a lot of profits and do all this great stuff? Probably not. Now that’s an added benefit if you can make it successful and all this, but you probably had a why.

Ten Years ago, Simon Sinek coded out the why. He calls it the golden circle. People buy why you do what you do and not what you do. Everyone that owns a business or communicates in life, needs to know their why. There are a few reasons why knowing your why is very important.

One: your marketing message must have your why all the time. People buy why you do what you do, not what you do or how you do it. There’s a good chance that there’s a lot of people that do and provide the same services that you do, but people buy passion. People buy feeling. People buy things like that, so knowing and explaining your why and articulating that in your marketing message is extremely vital.

Teaching your why to your staff and your team is number two. It is so important that your whole team believes what you believe. They’re on board with what you’re trying to achieve. If you don’t have a team that is passionate about your why, then they’re not going to work nearly as hard. Making sure that you hire based off your why, you coach based off your why, and you develop your staff for that why, is absolutely vital to your team’s success.

When I first started In Their Face Marketing, my why was to help small businesses utilize their small marketing budgets the absolute most effect that they could. Whenever I was working in a large corporation, the area that I was working, they were spending $500,000 on marketing alone, and it aligned with none of our sales goals, and it was completely a waste of money, and I’ve seen that on a high-level, large scale, and i knew that it was going to be happening in the mom and pop shops, the individually owned places. I started doing research and learning about the most dollar for dollar effective ways to promote your business, and that is why I got passionate about online marketing, and how to generate great results with shoestring budgets, because my why is to help other small businesses become extremely successful, even if they don’t have fortune 500 marketing budgets.

Make it a daily thing where you’re thinking about why you’re doing what you’re doing, and it may just change the trajectory of your life, or your business or relationships, and it will give your purpose.

If you want more information about the golden circle and they why, I think you should check out the Simon Sinek video. It’s a long video at 18 minutes but it is absolutely worth it. You can watch the whole video here at https://www.ted.com/talks/simon_sinek_how_great_leaders_inspire_action
